An RSPCA investigation has begun after a cat was repeatedly thrown from a Birmingham tower block by a group who filmed the stunt on mobile phones.
The animal, thought to be someone's pet, was said to have been held over a 50ft high balcony in Druids Heath before being flung to the ground.
Insp Rob Hartley from the RSPCA said he had not seen anything like it before.
Two people have been questioned about the incident but it is not known if the cat survived.
It is thought to be the first case of so-called 'happy slapping' - filming attacks on mobile phones - where an animal has been the victim.
Insp Hartley said: "It's a very cruel and vicious act on a defenceless animal.
"The evidence gained from the video suggests that the cat landed and, although injured, did struggle away."
The film show the group retrieving the cat and repeating the act - the RSPCA thinks the cat was thrown off the balcony at least four times.
The RSPCA is appealing for witnesses to contact them

Bit off topic but if they never labelled it happy slapping I guarentee that there would be less cases. Because it's like a buzz word now people think to do it and ultimatly it happens more...

erm yeah, but a 50ft landing is something else.
Cats are pretty hardy creatures, so it quite possibly survived, but would be hurt for sure.
