Due to recent legal problems involving various groups, I think it would be a good idea to make it so that only members with 300+ posts can view the Hidden section.
I found it hard to believe at first, but now I see that the media honestly has nothing better to do that monitor HG groups. I dont want ANY information on this site to come back to bite any of you in the ass.
I want the Hidden section to be an area where you dont have to worry about the wrong person seeing something they shouldnt. The hidden section should be a place where only trusted and familair members can post and view.
Let me know you're thoughts on this. I'm really not inclined to make it any less that 300 posts. There are things here I personally would like to talk about and post, but I'm not comfortable with some members who even have 200 posts seeing it.
I'm also considering making the Hidden section its own forum, instead of a sub-forum.

I actually think 300 is a little low. I think it should be 500. Thats a good Idea though.

I agree completely. I think we will do 500....as 300 posts isnt really hard to achieve...and there are people here with 300 posts and I have no clue who they even are.

I think its a good idea, but is there not a way where you can get a password on the hidden forum and that password is only given out to members that you know arn't from the media, e.g have been here ages, have proof they have a HG team etc.?
Not sure if it can be done, but just an idea, seems like a safer option. Because over time anyone could build up 300+ posts, and if they were that desperate to get in, im sure they would do it.

The password would get leaked.

You can password protect areas. Would be a good idea, unless the password leaked. Plus it would be up to the admins who would be allowed to view, and im sure some wouldnt be happy being told they cant come in.

yeah but if suddenly we see someone posting in every topic to get to 300+ I think everyone would start to get alittle suspicious.
I think you can also just tell by the way they talk that something would be up. I dunno though, password is also a good idea.
09 February 2006, 15:34 UTC#8
Oh okay fair enough, as I said, was just a suggestion.

We could easily add a new member group that allows you to see it, like an 'advanced members' team. I'm open to that completely.
09 February 2006, 15:36 UTC#10
I wanna be apart of the advanced members team!

Sounds like a safer option than post count to me.
I mean sam evans was here as doctor nappy for ages without anyone knowing, there could be many other people the same.

But either that would involve, promotion after a certain post count (which we have already discussed) or people would bitch about why they havnt been put in advanced members.
09 February 2006, 15:40 UTC#13
Yeah, if we add the advanced member thing. It should be up to the Admins to decide who gets in.

I think only prob with having an 'advance' members group is people will get pissed off at not being in it. But as long as im in and theres ganan be a buffet im good.
Would this just be for a 'hidden' section then yeah? And I suppose people would post not 'stricly legal' advice, footage and queries in there?
I am all open for this section not that it will benift CP as im pretty sure we dont break the law with what we do on the site.

I agree that 300 is too low, I think that the advanced member group would be a good idea, coz there is people out there that can notch up 300 posts in a couple days. Trust is more than a number I think, but I agree with WEAK that action needs to be taken.
09 February 2006, 19:43 UTC#19
yeah, I agree, make it so the admins can chose who's trusted and who isn't.

Damn that means I would have to wait. I just dont post on every thread to get posts, so I kinda dont have that many. And WEAK probably dosent care because he probably has no clue who the hell I am.
09 February 2006, 21:08 UTC#21
I don't know if this can be done or not, but if people were given an invite and an individual password to the hidden forum, wouldn't that prevent that more than one user couldn't use it at the same time?
Thoughts?
