Ive been on Myspace for the past 45 minutes adding people to the HG Collection myspace, doing this damn work, and we can't even get a fucking release date. I'm really upset, and I have always defended moody, but this is re=god damn diculous. Why am I even promoting this thing? FUCK FUCK FUCK

When I put out Foul Play.. Before the editing, before the meetings, the first thing we did was set a deadline and release date and worked back from that.

We worked late, busted our asses, basically did everything in our power to stick with that release date of November 27th.. And we did it. There was 80hrs of footage to edit in to 118 minutes.

I just cant understand why this edit job has taken over six months? For fucks sake, you edit it, and you press it. There's no shooting involved, no crews, no 100hrs of footage to go through.

What the fuck is going on Moody?

Im not saying this because Im having a dig, but I want to see this (and probably even buy this) as much as anyone else here but you cant even set a fucking date even through you claim all it needs to do is get pressed (which you said a month ago)

Dude, you used to post here everyday when you wanted footage, now you got it you dont even bother to come back and give the groups involved updates. This is the main medium for you to communicate to the content suppliers and give them updates on progress. You've been pretty slack lately. I dont blame people for getting a bit frustrated dude.

Fuck no.. Outsourced it. It went straight from the DVD authoring company.

So you gave them your hard drive and they made the DLT master tape for you?

Nah dude.. They authored the DVD. Basically, when the editing was finished, I took them a Digi Beta with the finished video on it.

They then made the DLT tape after the doing the menus and authoring and took that to get the glass master.

cant u make the menus ect on your own pc with it all finished on a DVDR and they can copy it to somthing to press and record real dvds?

Probably, but we didnt have the facilities to do any of the menus or authoring at the time. When stuff is being distributed in stores you gotta make sure everything it 100% with no glitches and no chance of a fuck up.

So in our case, it was a no brainer to outsource the authoring to a company that knows what they're doing to get a retail ready release produced.

I sent them the whole video on a digi beta. Uncompressed broadcast quality. Even if its "uncompressed Avi" Its still compressed to something. Its not a pure source like a digi beta is.

I thought .avi was the highest quality file type.

Its what we shoot everything on at work unless we're shooting HD, then we use DVCPRO tapes.

no but I get dlts made cheap, like $200 to $300 a piece and they'll design a sick menu and lay out your chapters as you want it to look. I get the low price because I'm friends with the guys. I get duplicate dlts for like $30 a piece, around cost. some people pay upwards of $1,000 to have a dlt made and they have to bring in their own menu and chapter lay out, soi get a good deal.





actually if it goes straight to dvd you ussually send a compressed file on a dvd of the main feature and then another compressed file for bonus footage. the dlt auhorer then uses your files and finds the right bit-rate to have your video look nice but he also has to make sure that the file size of the feature and bonus will fit.

some places in la don't even have digi beta, it depends what company you're working with.



uncompressed mpeg 2 I believe is better. im not a technician, I have my editors and tech people handle this stuff.
