You guys are so so so mis-informed about Mac.

Mac is way better than Linux as a desktop, they don't even compare. OSx is built on a BSD kernel, the shell is very similar to Linux as they are both Unix based. You can SSH into *Nix servers with Mac by default, Whois domains by default etc etc, all the things Linux can do...so can Mac.

Now here comes the main difference where OSx wipes the floor with Linux. The OSx desktop is nothing short of amazing, aesthetically it's even better than any Windows skin you can get, it's stable, powerfull and works. There's a lot of Open Source and proprietry support for OSx these days. Additionally, Mac systems are built so much better than your average PC system.

Soooo.

Let's paraphrase.

IMO...

Windows Desktops = Great
Mac Desktops = Awesome
Linux Desktops = Shite.

Servers?

Windows = Not bad
Mac = Alright
Linux = Damn brilliant.
FreeBSD = Flawless.

So, indeed you people muttering "Mac sucks, period" are making entirely unqualified decisions. You guys know absolutely NOTHING about the way systems work outside of the easy GUI of Windows.

Hence, I've said it before and will say it again. Your arguments contain the substance & body of fart gas.

we (all) know that macs that are before osX sucked ass but were okay, the new ones are even better, but mainly for video editing and some people still like them for designing and print and stuff.

windows sucked before 95, then it sucked (comparitavely) to xp, and now xp sucked until the new Vista is coming out. It just rawks your sox.

linux is good mainly for servering, or if your poor, a desktop environment. ahahahah
linux is also fun if your a geek (like) gman who lurves to type in commands like a monkey on a keyboard.

Yes, Macs DID suck ass. They WERE buggy. But you guys say "Macs suck ass, period". Don't twist words around. Macs are brilliant, not shit like you eagerly pointed out.

XP never sucked. If you want a system that even grannies can use, it's perfect. You can't have security and ease of use.

Linux, in any case is shit apart from a server environment. But remember, Linux is NOT an operating system so it depends which distribution you pick up. *BSD does PWN Linux, but doesn't have such a large community.

Finally, G H8'z typing in Linux commands. It's like data entry, except worse. But it gets the job done.

So, I'm glad we can all agree OSx is brilliant.

I think its more a matter of opinion, I mean technically it may be brilliant. But the experience would depend on the user.

Anyone can get used to something different. Mac has the best of both OS worlds integrated into one sleek Operating System. I guarantee, if I destroyed your Windows PC and gave you a Mac within 3 months you would prefer Mac to Windows.

Still, I use Windows because it's easy. I don't have time to configure Linux desktops anymore. And Windows will continue to lead the market for a very very long time.

yeah I guess its just because if had very little experience with the apple OS . It always seems to be the underdog to windows. Does it need different hardware and such?
