the fate of your footage

Say youre slowly dying. You still have all your original mini dv tapes from back when filmed homegrown stuff. What would you do with the tapes? Who would you give them to? You're going to be dead in a few months, do you care about the fate of your footage? This is a serious question, so serious replies only please.

I've been thinking about this alot lately. Like if I got in a car accident and had a couple days to live...I cant think of anyone I would want to have my tapes. I have over a 100 mini dv tapes and there is alot more on them than just Destray footage. The content is too personal to give to my friends, to offensive to give to my family. The only person I would trust with them is my girlfriend, but surely if I gave them to her they would just sit in a box for years on end. And then where would they go when she got old and died?

Realistically, I think I would destroy them. There is just to much shit on the tapes I dont want people to see.

I dont think that you would really knwo that your group is dying, and even if you do, you would want to hold onto the tapes just incase the group came back to life. If the group has been dead for a long time, I dont think you really care about the footage anymore, seems pointless.

I think if I kept on to the tapes that id keep them just as a reminder of shit ive done for when im older

I guess I'd give all my tapes to Louzy, he could edit it up and carry on with the DVD project or whatever. I'd hate to to know the last two years or whatever of my life go to waste. Filming is a pretty important part of my life. I don't just film DR stuff, I bring my camera pretty much everywhere I go to document my life...Even if I don't end up saving any of the footage, but I never know if something film-worthy will happen.

If I died, it'd be a great shame to see all my tapes be lost.

By dead I thought u meant , the group was over. I get it now.

if it was jsut the group was dying, id keep the footage myself to look back on, if it was me who was dying I would jsut leave the footage to my brother, as he's in my group anyways, that way the family would sitll have the footage and anything of me they wanted to use online they could.

id give it all to louzy, hes the only one in the group who will know any type of producion to carry on with the project

Although I guess if you wanted it to go to good use mates or if not destroy it, if your family watched it like weak said, would probably change their view on you and that's probably not good after your dead.

I would probably give them to snap or adrian, simply for the reason I woudn't want my parents seeing the stuff I used to do. DVD probably wouldnt be made.

Yer I know what you mean, it would be a nice thing to think, but you would be dead, you wouldn't be able to know if someone has carried on your....legacy...although your mates would probably be nice enough not to leave it up in the attic anyway.

edit: Not that they are just mine. Techincally the tapes belong to all of us, cause we've all paid for them. I just keep them at my place because I edit our stuff.
