Best Controller?

yeah. tahts what I dont like about the PS controller.

The N64 controller alot of people hate but that is before they use it... when I first saw it I thought... How the heck do I even start.... But once you get used to it you see that it is 2 controllers in one... You can use it like a normal controller and use both far handles or if you on a game like Goldeneye use the middle and zoom around the game more easy. I had a connecter for m PC to use the N64 controller... I gota find it again. Its great for N64 ROMS.

I guess you have to use it and then you love it. But for all you young ones it will be hard as you grew up with the PS and then found the N64 and others... n00bz.

Well damn it, I wish I hadn't have been asleep for most of this discussion. Here's my rundown though gents... Haha, I just finished it, and it's fucking longer than I expected....Oh well, fuck you guys.


If you want to talk about ease of use, and what controller was best, go look at Atari, althouh not really much of a controller, it had ONE button and a joystick, it was extremely easy to use, and didn't feel very out of place sitting in the palm of your hand. The runner-up for ease of use would be the NES controller. Nothing was as simple as that, and it was the gaming console most of us learned to play on. SNES follows that, and thats where controllers began to get to complex and shitty right there, the birth of it all.

I didn't like any Sega controllers, the 'Genesis' was relatively comfortable, but I always felt as though my thumbs hovered over the controller to much. I despise the Dreamcast controller, so I'm not speaking about it much.

Nintendo then came out with the "wonderful" N64 system, it was just to much on a single controller, all poorly misplaced. Probably the worst controller invented, atleast one of the top three.

Playstation consoles came out with the regular non-analog controllers and they just felt so gimpy in your hands, like if you were going to button-smash, you would break it in half. Then they introduced the first analog controllers, and they felt beast-like. But with the PS2 they sized them down a small bit, and now they comfortably fit in your hands.

Nintendo's rebuttle to this was the SWEET Gamecube system. Who didn't love that torture device of a controller... Fuck that controller and everything it ever stood for. Probably THE worst controller developed.

Xbox's first gen controllers felt way to beefy, and there were only 1 set of buttons on the back being used for your trigger fingers, this was quite the oddity, as if you had played PS2, R2 and L2 had been replaced by little white and black buttons.... WTF. But, after they sized it down, it was managable to hit every button with no problem.

What I don't like about the Xbox 360 controllers, is that they seem to be tilted inward to much, like, It just feels very odd to me. I'm afraid with the longer handles on the PS3, this same comfort issue will come about, and being a huge Sony fan, I will probably dread this...

Here's where I wrap up and tell you what I should have just told you from the beginning. haha.

Best Controller Ever: (old era) NES (new) PS2
Worst Controller: Nintendo Gamecube, runner-up N64

I like the ps2 controller the best, but I have this wireless ps2 controller, where the L2 and R2 buttons are about an inch lower, so your middle fingers rest on them perfectly. its soo comfortable.

I've noticed many people dissing the DC?

The dreamcast actually had one of the most superior graphical engines of it's time, the graphics were amazing and the console was well made and fast at processing. The controllers were also ledgend, they worked so well with the DC games. It may have looked like a brick (very weird brick), but it was light and relatively small.

Kinda stupid for Sega to discontinue it though, as they ceased the product line on the week they had the best ever sales.

ps2 controller beats all

My list in order from best to worst.

1.Xbox 360- had a chance to use it recently and it felt perfect in my hands.
2.N64- I don't see what you guys are talking about, this thing was perfect.
3.Dreamcast- The layout was perfect for it's games.
4.Genises- Loved playing sonic on that damn thing!
5.Ps2- A little to simply for my taste but it did the job well.
6.Nes- I now know why I have little square indents in my hands hours of useing it fucking hurts

Good list man. Apart from the 360... I used it... but would say the N64 is better

I like the big ardace contolls for DreamCast one of my friends modded his for his ps2 and where always playing sf and shit like that on it

m0n0 is right about the n64 controller...its impossible to use wtih just two hands...personally I really liked the original xbox controller...the 360 is sweet aswell

think about where the L button was on the n64. if your playing with the middle handle and the right handle, how the hell are you supposed to hit the L button, you physically have to remove your left hand and put it over there. annoying as fuck

there wasent really that many games where you had to use it so it didint really matter

Yeh, if u actually ever used it u will know that u dont need 3 hands. As u dont use all the buttons in the same game at one time. It works fine , I dont think nintendo would have been stupid enough to make a controller that was phsyically imposibble to use, that would be a pretty big design flaw.

The DS2 is the best normal controller I have used, but I havent used a 360 controller yet. The best actual controller you can use to play games out of everything is the DFP

The 64 controller wasnt bad... I remember how hard it was to get used to when it first came out though.

True true man. I dont hate the PS1/2 controllers but I just thikn theres better and I find the PS1/2 controllers can hurt yourhands after awhile. And the SNES was cool but reminds me of the PS1/2 in alot of ways.


And can you count a weel as a controller? And how can it the best when you can only use it with afew games?!?
