And to tell you the truth I realy have no idea why?
Its just somthing about a 16mm cam that makes it sexy, can anyone give me some info on these babys like what do you do to get the footage off haha!

Yeah I know, it's probably much better than what it seems on a first glance. But it just looks so old, like a security camera from a 60's Bond movie or something. That, and the fact that it's Russian is what I found funny

I have no idea! but ill cross that bridge when I come to it.

this cam where in 1970-1980.. it has scesial casets SMENA..

looks pretty retro dude, there probly was a way to capture the footage, but I doubt the fittings and cables are available these days

You have to have it converted to digital. You cant do it yourself. You have to pay a company to do it.

16mm film stock is expensive, prohibitively so. It can't record sound so you have to record your sound to something else and use a clapper to sync it up. You have to get the film developed at a lab and synced up to the audio track. Then you can digitize it. If you take film and convert it to DV, you lose most of the benefits of shooting on film, unless you go back later and edit the film manually.

edit: another fun thing - lots of parts of those kinds of cameras need maintenance frequently. If any of the film spooling mechanisms, or the gate or any of that messes up, it can scratch or tear the film. The film has to be loaded into that canister in a changing bag for total darkness; dark room "red lights" don't work for motion film.

I have a camera like that upstairs in my room. I wonder if it still works cause if I can find a company that can do that "digital" conversion that would be tight.
