New VGA card

ok right now I have a geforce fx 5200 it still works fine and all but im looking to upgrade what could you guys reccomend me?

Depends on your budget, and what you are looking for really. Most decent 128MB cards have wider pipelines than their 256 counterparts although this changes slightly with PCI express, which your PC probably doesn't support.

So what are you looking for? I know the FX 5200 isn't that great, as it doesn't score well when tested in 1024 * 786, it gets something like less than 15FRPS on a decent benchmark test.

well my friend reccomneded a 6600 gt but im not really that sure my budget is about $250

$250 is a pretty good budget, you should be able to pickup a decent card for that. Unfortunately, I havn't bothered keeping up with the latest graphics cards, so I can't really make any qualified reccomendations. 2 pointers for you though. Firstly, make sure you don't get a PCI express card as it's likely your motherboard won't support it and secondly don't get an ATI card, as the default support for them is low, and they are inferior to Nvidia cards. I'd reccomend a trip down to your local PC store, ask for a reccomendation.

yeah I wasent really planing on getting an ati card I might go ask around a bit more check on ebay for prices then go in
