Hum. Damn I was told there good :( Ive not used them though. Its strange some people say BT is good... never heard anything good from them... But I was with AOL for about a year... only thing I could get back then :( And they sucked loads.

What problems did you have with AOL? alot of poeple say bad stuff about them but I can truely say ive really never had any problems apart from as I said the customer service is crap but practically all companys customer services are useless.

Well at the start I never got my full speed... I had 2MB connection but it always worked out at about 60KBS which is slowww. Then it would never connect to the modem.... and sometimes I would just not be able to connect at all.

When taht all got fixed I had them phone me up and have a go at me because I dont use there software (I hacked it so it only used IE/FF and no AOL software is installed) and they said I had to have it installed for it too work... which is crap. Also once I phoned up asking not to use a static IP and if I could have the same one and a guy said I could... which is wrong and could have cost me alot of time.

fair enough, ive never had any problems like that, I like the AOL software so have no problem using it, but now you dont have to use their software, just set up a connection through network connections on the computer and put in your username and password and you can use I.E/FF... they tell you how to do it on their website.

I've got BT, it's great in a few ways.

Installation is so fucking easy.

Plug in. Drivers. There done.

I pay £25 a month for 2mb, but since it's contract I'll be getting an upgrade for free whenever their new fastest speed is out...

Because they give you all there own shit that you can get for free and you pay extra for it. And it is so they can keep track of all yourshit and learn about you to get ads working for you.

There browser has so many tracking things its unbelivible. And it memory hogs like a bitch.

Some of that is partially correct.

AOL does have a great network though, they are a Time Warner company and TW are a major player in supplying datacentres with bandwidth.

The main reasons they aren't great, are;

* Software is bulky and buggy in areas

* They blacklist IPs at the drop of a hat, so on a shared server if one customer was malicious your IP range gets blocked

* They do have *some* spyware in their systems, and too many adverts.

Few more, couldn't be arsed to list every reason though.
