Anti-Smoking Propaganda and the Anti-Smoking Laws

Okay, first off I would like to start off with this, I don't support the smoking industries or think that smoking is good for you, it obviousley isn't. But I do not support the Anti-Smoking Laws and Propaganda that I constantly see.

Most of us have seen this gay ass sign in school. Basicly saying you look stupid smoking, and thats you will be uncool if you smoke. So now schools are supporting the promotion of negative self images in are already confused youth? People say this, "it's okay to have that because smoking is unhealthy, so we can say anything we need to in order to stop it". If that is so why don't we see this sign our schools?

because I see smoking as: It will endanger your own life. It will endanger peoples around you. It makes you smell. You waste your money. You can have a normal life as you are dependent on something taht kills you.

Dude I used to smoke cause it got me high.

I smoked till the buzz wore off now I don't smoke anymore.

Apart from to smoke something that has that on the packet is just brain dead. people die everyday from smoking related things... Yes I know that everyone dies and shit.... But Smoking does not add anything to your life to make it any better.

3. Maybe your not doing it right. I know afterer a 2hours at the gym I feel much better then any drug I have ever smoked and got a high from. and anyway I am talking about smoking tabaco here not any drugs.

I did read some place that there is no real high from smoking... It is all based on lung movment that gives you a high and you would get the same effect from taking deap breaths. I read it some place... prob could find it on the net. Might not be true though.

I guess it all boils down to the type of person you are. If your lazy and dont do much then smoking can be something that gives you shit to do all day... I know that its one of the reasons my mums boyfriend smokes.... Its all he has to do *Roll his cigs* *Asks my mum if she wants one* *Smoke* *Roll more*

And if you dont get out much then you dont get any sort of rush from running or activities that alot of people get.... and sports.

I dont know if its the same in US but here in England most the people who dont work and are on benifits are the people who smoke. I think its due to them being very stupid and having nothing to look farward too in life and seeing no future which makes people smoke... and as there parents smoked around them its just part of life. I think this is what has made me look down on smokers.

Nice rant FMS. Doyle I think your views on smoking are very narrow and propaganda based. It's all too easy to be holier than grail, but if you've never tried smoking you'll never know what it's like.

I basically started smoking because I started getting addicted to the tobacco in a joint, I noticed some kinda craving for a cigarrette so started up. I know smoking is bad for me, I know smoking makes me smell of smoke, I know that people don't dig it. But that's my choice, because I smoke doesn't reflect my persona and your saying so is offensive.

To each their own, my view is everyone can do what they want, it doesn't concern me in the slightest if someone took opium for example. It's your life, up to you to do what you like with it, and you don't need a reason or justification of your actions if you're not physically harming someone. And I only smoke in smoking bars, where people do it anyway or outside away from non-smokers. What harm am I doing?

I dont know if your aware of this Gazaa but people over here start smoking simply because they feel that it looks cool. Many of my friends now admit that they initially started smoke back in middle school because it made them look intimidating...which is sadly somewhat true. Smoking does add to that image in men.

Say what you want, but I think its pathetic. I could care less when it comes to men, but I absolutely look down on woman who smoke. Its extremely unattractive to me.

I am aware of that, thing is we have very different views as I live in Spain where EVERYONE smokes. Of course, this is not a good thing, but I don't have the same view on on this topic as you. To those people whom smoke because it made them look intimidating, well they're very insecure people.

me... I also grew up with it but saw alot of people who did not... In my bording school you oculd smoke once you was 16 (People stayed on till 17+) and I was one of the only people who did not smoke... So I guess it has always been around me also.

Be more accepting. And when you say "I pay for the smokers healthcare", you are paying more towards your corrupt govnerments immigrant situation than smoking, I doubt smoking constitutes to a fraction of your tax, so that is an absurd statement.

The reason cigarettes cost loads in England is cause they are taxed so highly (hence people trying to import them duty free). This more than makes up for the money spent on healthcare for smokers by the NHS.

Smoking is part of alot of peoples personalities and as you said you would not judge a person who smokes crack as long as they did it away from you.... But people smoke in public all the time so I can see them how I want.

I am not trying to stop you from smoking one bit G. You need to do that yourself and see that your family and your dad would want you to live your life to the max and have a health life. You know its stupid as we have talkedabout it loads before.
