Vegas 6 Help

A while ago I sent some footage I had on my comp, back to a DV tape, to save space.
Now I need to edit it again. When I try to capture the footage in Vegas, from the backed up DV Tape, it works, but doesnt create any clips when its cpaturing on. I guess this is because it cant reconise where the tape has been recorded, and where it has been stopped, as when I sent the footage back to the tape I cut out a few clips which where crap and stuff, so its shorter than when I previously captured it on.

Ive tryed capturing on footage Ive recorded and not touched, that works fine, when I capture, it creates the clips, because it knows when it has been stopped and started.

Mainly I just need to know is there a way I can just get Vegas to create clips from the big movie file ive captured? Like it would usually do when capturing on in the first place??

As in Studio, you capture the footage on, then when you would click on it to view it, in Studio it automatically create clips out of the video, or you can just right click on the file, and get it to detect the clips.

So basically I wanna edit in Vegas, sometimes when I drag a clip in the timeline in Vegas, it has these orange lines on where the clips are, thats with a few videos, but thats really no help.

So anyway at all to just get it to create loads of clips from that one file? so I can edit it properly??

I do this in pinnacle, but I have to cut the file up myself when editing. all I do is cut it up on the time line and drag it away from the project and go get the clips I need later

other way is capturing each clip one by one

And I dunno what your problem is exactly?... you want vegas to capture a tape and break it up like pinnacle does?

Usually, when I capture with vegas, it will cut the footage into individual clips where ever the cuts are on the tape.

Do you need the footage to be in 1 big file? or many small ones?

Webby, cant you just right click on the video file in Studio, then select "detect scenes" or something?
Thats what I might try doing if I have to use Studio.

Boner, Err currently I have one big file, I want it to be split up into little small ones, yeah, so a 2min clip will have about 20 video files, when split up... or something.

The problem is, since Ive backed the footage up on the DV tape, when I capture it, it cant detect where the scenes are in the footage, since its different from when it was capture on in the first place. So Im left with one big file.


I guess Ill have too just capture 2min files each time, as it will be fair hard with one big file, it might be hard to find the stunts im looking for in one big file.

I just thought, after its captured, you could get it to split it up automatically for you, say like create a clip/scene every 20seconds?? Something like that would be great. I know you can do it in Pinnacle, but in Vegas??
I cant find anything like that.
