Have you noticed a change in homegrown (on this board) this past year?

Regarding the fiming of pranks, crime and vandalism.

People are starting to include these more and more into there clips, and don't feel abliged to put in some "bush jumps" or other stunts, and I think its awsome.

When I first joined here the only really standout people doing it well was weak sister. But now more groups are taking it on.... Team Knowhere, Allballs, Delayed Reaction (there are a few more)

I don't really care about the skits scene so lets leave that for another thread (Boner Jones)

I know quite a few people here dont like it (j0nes, danG, webby, etc)

But yeah what do you guys think.....?

"All Balls, it must be a gay cult" refering to the graf on the side of the building saying "All Balls".

Hmm I just said that because I like your group better than most, and your content is really versatile, and that car jump was good, k?

FMS: Haha, oh yeah...forgot about that. That was actually old as fuck footage by the way...like when I was in middle school.

Word: K <3. :D

And yes I have noticed the change.

I couldn't really comment on the change in HG over the past year as I've only been here since August. The people in Team Nowhere have been doing vandalism and crime for years. I remember the days we organised stealing pokemon cards and the times we used to fire marbles at windows with slingshots. It's only been recently we've started filming this stuff.

To be honest I'd rather see this stuff than hedge jumps and jumping through flaming tables.

Most HG releases don't entertain me these days, so anything new is good really.

I think some vandilism is cool, I like too see grafiti and throwing shit and people and things. Blowing shit up in phone boxes etc, But when it gets too smashing car windows I think its lame and not funny.

I agree that more people are going in that direction and I think thats cool cause stunts and skits bore the shit out of me to be honest.

Im very much into laughing at other peoples missfortune and at comical situations. So I enjoy pranks a lot. Im not all against vandalism... if its included in a prank it could be very enjoyable!

the boring old jump off a fence/building into a tree/bush stunts are so old now, they are horrible to watch..And personally I hate skits, but I guess if pulled off well they can be alright.
Jumps that are incredibly high or risky are still cool to watch but do get very repetative and boring.
Im glad homegrown has moved more towards the destructional scene, much more entertaining to watch and film :)

To be fair I don't mind seing anything filmed, like I don't care if its been done before or whatever because chances are that most things have been. I agree with originality and things but I base a good group around their ability to entertain and whether or not their stuff is captivating to watch. I think that this whole scrutinising people based on not coming up with anything "original" is complete shit. Because if its good to watch and looks good then why should it matter? People cannot copyright these things, just as people can't say "we came up with the idea of skits, so you can't".

If it looks good in a mixup, then I'm into it. But I dont like people who will watch a video for the purpose of looking for things that they have seen before and to just tear that group down. Fair enough if it gets old for you to see the same thing over and over again, but if its something that is done alright and has a good outcome then why not?

Im easy going, Ive noticed the change. But I dont mind if its not original really, Id prefer a vid full of original stunts but I dont mind watching someone jump into a piece of wood, from a tree, or huge place, as long as its not off the ground... and they just belly flop through it or something, haha.

Its hard to really define whats original in some videos, as I feel alot of people are saying jumps arnt original, which they arnt, but its hard to do a stunt, without jumping or falling over or something, well in a way it is.
But I love pranks, vandalism.. yeah if its good, anything else I dont mind as long as its, err good.. :D

Yeah there has been a negative change, part of the reason we left here. Vandalism is taking over and the fact that groups are doing self-infliction activities whilst very high or drunk just ruins the concept of a stunt IMO.

Bush jumps and all that may bore you but people never think 'wow that looks fun'. No, instead it's 'I see no blood, graffitti or fire so it's lame'. The concept of homegrown stunts is to be amateur stuntspeople. You don't see a proffessional stunt man tagging a wall-oh because that is 'cuhrayzee!!'.

The concept and reason has changed and it sucks. We decided to start up stunts again when we clear all technical problems and probably won't share our videos on the net or here, because our target audience no longer exists. NO, we will keep your videos, put them onto a DVD and show our mates and do it all for FUN.

Too tell you the truth, DR just kinda ended up doing more pranks and putting out a prank video because we was saving up our stunts for the DVD.
I like watching stunts more than pranks or random acts of sencelessness I.e smashing someones car up or letter box, throwing water bombs at people and shouting ramdom shit, these things dont require skill, were as jumping out of a building on to a table that your mate is laying on requires skill and timing, also its much harder to film it rite.. so thanks for including DR in that list but its not realy our thing (unless were drunk) *hick*

Yeah kinda agree with what Louzy said. The 'We're back' video was pretty much filled with "throw away" stuff to wipe the slate clean for the DVD project. During the summer we filmed a few water bombings/eggings and shit but vandalism isn't really our thing, I'll leave that shit to the 'pros'. I guess the ratio of pranks/"vandalism" to stunts in that clip kinda made us look like we were trying to become a more destruction orientated group but this isn't really the case.

DR are still a stunt group but the DVD will defo show more variety, I want to get every aspect of what I find an entertaining video and combine it to make a sick movie.

note: Dan will still completely destroy anything though when he's wasted. New years was f__king LOL.

edit: Stupid school PCs, won't let me swear. NAZIS.

I would like to see groups with a variety. Not all stunts, or skits or pranks.
That makes groups more interesting to watch. But I do like a good stunt over skits or pranks.

k,baikris.

I think thats bullsh_t, who said homegrown was all about stunts? It's about amateur filming, filming whatever you want whether its stunts, skits, pranks, extreme sports, vandalism, your life or just crazy people on the street.

And there's still a majority of people who love to watch stunt videos here. Just cause new 'styles' have come about (I guess partly because of the rise of Indecline) it doesn't mean people dismiss everyone else's videos as lame.

Argh, f_ck I'm bored. I got another f_cking hour left at this place.

I like the way you put that. However, smashing someones car up or negatively intruding in someones life is just sly. I always put myself in the position of the victim. If someone did some of that shit to my family I would go fucking ape shite. I guess that's why I thought bumfights was lame and similar genre of videos suck.

EDIT in reply to mono's statement- it's jsut the way I saw homegrown. We all ahve different views. Maybe this forum should be serperated by genre in the HG sections such as a 'vandalism section', 'skit section', 'prank section', 'stunt section' just to clear things up and make life more efficient on here.

But thats also stupid, its just like music everything gets chopped up in to diffrent sections at the end of the day its Homegrown lets keep it at that, categorizing musics has killed the industry lets not kill Homegrown!!

I prefer too watch a good stunt video than a vandlism video. I also enjoy watching skits aslong as they are done well. Very few groups can pull off a good cohernt flowing skit, and I appluad groups that can.

Like louzy said, smashing shit up takes no skill, its fun too do but its the same thing over and over, so too make a video of it is stupid in my opinion, I like to see soem of it though...put into a mix up of good, atleast half orginal stunts (I say half original because I think its fuckign hard for soemone too coem up with a 100% orginal stunt these days...so aslong as the stunt is done well and is entertaining why should it matter? ).

I notice people using the same editing style which I hate. And people start calling my editing style a rip off of Indecline and shit but I've been using it as long as I've been around and Im sure Indecline wasn't released back then.

But atleast Im happy everybody is putting more effort in their editing.
Yeah more vandalism and shit but I'd like to see more HEIGH jumps still.. but no one is interested in taking a risk or something?

Yeah, alot of people are using the same editing style, just a little different and people are calling it Indecline style editing, like people call HG stunts Jackass wannabes and stuff. Well imo.
But most groups who do vandalism and other things releated, are great to watch, the editing is great.

Hopefully I can get my shit sorted out, then im tryna see if we can get filming again, as all I do is jumps mainly, just never had the time to do alot of them, expect some jumps from us if we start filming again :D

Haha, yeah Kuffi. Skinoff editing has always been like that, I love your style.

I think a lot of people are worried about high jumps because if you don't do it right you can get pretty fucked up. I can't jump for shit so I leave it to Emo and Lozerkid.

Problem is most groups are just blending into one group, cos there all just cppying the same stunts, same editing etc

Theres a big reason why there 6 or 7 top groups out there, nd thats cos when you watch their vids, it isnt like watching someone elses video cos its original in style and stunts and entertaining.

I know for a fact if I jumped or fell from anything avoer 18ft I would break something, something that would not let me do anything for far too long!

but I'll do some other shit, matt, get brainstorming biatch
