Migrate to Firefox

Reasons to migrate to firefox:

Don't say later do it now, also another nifty feature about firefox is it allows you to import all your settings such as history, cookies, and favourites after installing.

Haven't tried firefox yet but I hear it's great. I'm on mozilla right now, gets the job done for me and thankfully I don't have to have a damn house button for a homepage that I don't need loading accidently when I click on the wrong part of the browser

All I know is they aren't IE Explorer. That's all that matters.

well, for me I have no problem with internet explorer...that is probably because I got service pack 2, which is haha, not so hard now that I've figured out how to go get a "legal" like version of windows XP.

awesome. firefox is awesome though, without a doubt.

I'll download it sometime, it sounds pretty good.

Is there anyway to completely uninstall IE from my computer?

Through your control panel>add or remove programs>Add/Remove windows components(third option down on the left)>untick the Internet explorer box.

Thats not actually unistalling it, its just pretty much not giving you anyplace to click to access it, its still around.

Then remove it on the add/remove programs option. that may do it

Or delete the folder through "my computer". I have a different computer so can't direct you to where it is stored. Mine was on program files

I use Avany browser. it's just as good my compadres.

This works for xp (I don't know about other MS OS):

To delete IE, insert your xp disc and run the setup. There should be some option in the setup, to change configuration, I don't remeber exaclty what its called, it might be 'uninstall or reinstall exsting programs' or something. You shouldn't have much difficulty finding it. Now you get a load of boxes that will be checked. This is showing the installed software, you will see IE as one of the boxes, un check it, and press 'continue', 'next' or 'ok', whichever it is I can't remember exactly.

This worked for me when I had to uninstall outlook, which wasn't in the Add/Remove programs. I noticed IE in their as well. So it should work the same.

You use the XP disk to check one of those boxes and intall a program, not to uninstall. Go to windows components as Chris stated to remove it.

You cant uninstall IE because XP uses it for everything. If you did every uninstall it XP would not work as it could not browse anything as IE is used.

I dont know why you would uninstall it anyway.....

Firefox is what I have used for ages now and its realy good as you can add loads on it like plugins.

The only problem with it is it cant read style sheets well..... so when you go to some sites it will not display right. This si why I use FireFox 90% of the time and IE 10%.

Also it can crash at times when you use message boards when you post (Only started to happen since 1.0)

Make sure you download the search plugins! You can get all search sites and even crack websites

There is also a small bug when using bookmarks..... It will loads a bookmark by just highlighting a link..... (Not al the time....)

Internet Explorer and Explorer are 2 different things. Although they compliment one another, uninstaliing doesnt necesarily do any harm as such, even though its unecesary to do so, as you may and probably wil need to check a few things with IE at some stage.

Yeah true. But the interface is used for IE which uninstalling could mess up. I have never seen it uninstalled before.... because theres no point in doing so.

Also everyone should use Thunder Bird for a E-mail client.

But I am starting ti like IE even more now with the popup blocker Google uses (Uninstall the MSN one) as it blocks popups and can read CSS/style sheets. If they made it do I could install my own plugins I'd use IE more.

Very true! Any hacker/coder knows that most people and companys use IE (I have never seen any company use anything else apart from ones that run Linux) so any flaws will be made for IE, and its so bugy. I am beta testing the new IE and have still found the same bugs as are used for the new jpg problem that lets hackers upload a exe file onto a computer by just looking at a hacked jpg file. Theres no probs with FireFox that I know off though..... and the old ones were just faults not flaws that let hackers get trojans/keyloggers onto the computer like IE does.

I think everyone should use FireFox if not just for the ease of use but just to stop the flaws of IE.
