Ive had that happen before as well. Did you uninstall anything recently?

I got a virus/trojan or something one time that did that to all of my icons, it's just a few though, then maybe you don't have the right program to open the files (I.e. downloading a zip file when you don't have winzip).

Well lemme give you an example. If I uninstalled Windows Movie player...Id get that same icon for all my video files...because it doesnt know which program to use to open those files. All your files have some type of embedded link which routes it to the correct program to use to open it....at least I think thats how it works.
D889 on here would know whats wrong and how to fix it, lemme get him for ya.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say here:

What type of file is the one named "brad" anyway...that might give us a better idea of what is wrong. For example, if it's a .wmv file, then try right clicking it, going to "open with" and clicking windows media player, then the icon should be that of WMP.

Click 'Start' ---> 'Programs' ---> 'Accessories' ---> 'System Tools' ---> 'System Restore' Then restore to the most resent point that should sovle it.

Yeah, he'll lose any files he's downloaded or created today though; if today's system checkpoint hasn't been created yet.

Most computers do a System Checkpoint every day and it says what you have installed and removed.

That should not have caused it then.. damn I dunno what to tell you man restart and maybe refresh the desktop and see if you put something else on there if it does it to it.

What was the file? What did you used to open it in?
