I was opening up some of my projects in premiere, and it couldn't open some files because they have become "damaged or corrupt". I tested out all 1600 clips in my video folder....and about a dozen are corrupted or damaged. Ive never had this happen to me and I dont know what happened. I used Norton antivirus and I havent had any problems with viruses or anything, and my computer is pretty knew so Im clueless as to whats wrong.

What can I do to keep from more clips being corrupted? Help is much appreciated.

Have you tried opening them in anything else? If so do they work?

have you checked all the video files that are in the project it's self

if there fucked up, then lots of times the project file gets fucked, like if you have some that are on a flash drive or some kind of cd then you need them in the comp for them to be read

Yes the file themselves are fucked up. They are DV AVI's and only a specific dozen files wont open in Window Media Player. WMP says that it doesnt have the codec...

I talked to my friend whose really good with computers..and he thanks it might be because Im hard drive is going out. Like one thing that my comp does is when its starting up...sometimes it just stops loading and stays blue..it doesnt freeze it just stops...and if I hit some keys then it continues starting up and then finally goes on.

I dont know whats wrong though...ive only had it for 4 months..its a gateway and I take really good care of it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Im gonna do some disk checks now.

also, you might want to try using a disk recover tool, that finds corrupted files, my hard drive got messed up and had all my media files and vacation pictures, and I did that and it found them all, as far as I looked in the folders
I cant remember its name though,

hmmm...since its only 12 out of 16000 clips that are corrupted...Im not sure if a disk recover tool would be worth the money. Unless there are free ones you know of?

Anyways, I ran windows error-checking on all my drives, it took about 2 hours. It found no bad sectors and no corrupt files.

How about when my computer starts up? Does anyone know the deal with that? It just stalls for about a solid minute...the screen is blue..and it isnt loading..it does nothing. It just sits for a minute and then windows resumes start up. blink.gif

thanks for the advice guys

EDIT - another problem I once has was alot of my files had dissapeared. I have about 10,000 songs on my computer...and it told me I only had 4,000. And the files were gone. But when I restarted my computer they were all back again. But it hasnt done that since. Image file not present in the recovered backup
