Vegas render problem.

Hello all. Now I love Sony Vegas but sometimes though out versions, on a compile I am left with jaggard lines or lag. For example if say I am filming with the camera still and someone walks past, that person is all juttery, yet the background is not.

I render everything in PAL DV Widescreen (as my camera films in 16:9) and it looks horrible with these "effects". Now seen as it very high quality I can't really host it to show you, so I converted it to a smaller .wmv - this is where I noticed a lot of the "effects" vanished so it is hard to show you the problem in the first place!

It does however show a small part of what I mean, look at the last part around 7 seconds. You can see the skater jutter back and forth.

I have tried different version of Vegas and still the same result. Any help would be great.

Make sure nothing is running in the background that would fuck it up, otherwise, I can't help you, because I've never had that problem.

edit: after watching that, it looked like the avi file was fucked up. Is the avi file fine?

what are the specs of your pc? are you useing something that can easly prosess the raw avi? raw avi has an extremly high bitrate thus makeing it next to impossible to render it perfectaly unless u have the proper equipment..

I have a P4 2.4GHz, 1gig RAM, Ge-Force 6800 GT, etc

have u tried reinstalling? or have u tryd to render in a different codec? or have u messed with the vid output setings?

Hmm, I'm familiar with jaggedness, although when I burnt some test footage to DVD it looked fine on my TV, although this can be annoying when viewing it on PC.

As for the lagging, it is possible something was accessing your hard drive maybe when it was rendering, try what Wilbur said, kill all processes you don't need running and dedicate as much system resources to rendering as you can. Also, you may want to run defrag, that may help it. Good luck.

Ok, got it.

I re-captured the video using MM2 then edited it in Vegas - it worked.

Before I captured it with Vegas, and edited it with Vegas - meaning something is wrong with my Vegas capturing thing or it just sucks.

Anyway, this could be helpful to people in the future.
