The purpose of this thread is to broaden your musical horizons.
I will write the title and artist of a song, someone will "dibs" it, write a review of the song, rate it out of 10 then suggest another song for someone else, and so on.
If you don't like the song, don't just review it by saying "It sucks" or something similar, explain why you didn't like it without using belligerence.
Threads like this have worked well on other forums and have introduced me to new bands that I would never have heard of. Lets see how it goes here.
To start off, I chose
Soundgarden - Searching with my good eye closed.

Sounds like a good idea, I am downloading that song now, but it seems to be queued, and only 1 source came for that song.
17 September 2004, 10:26 UTC#3
I think it should be a rule you gotta post an mp3 or a place you can get one. Blargh upload it at www.cky2k.org/upload

That's a really good idea, it it can be annoying trying to find certain songs, especially if they're really obscure.
I never knew such a site existed, how much are these guys earning to be able to keep that website up?
I've edited my first post, grab the song there.

Sounds pretty good,
In depth, song sounds a bit repetive, nice instrument sounds, vocals blend nicely into the song, overall the song is slightly boring, I rate this song 6/10

You didn't leave a song to be downloaded and reviewed, hence the point of the thread.

Letter bomb "GreenDay" good song
Did you read the first post?
The way this thread works is you dibs the last song posted, write a review then leave another song for someone else, read the first fucking post.
Since your first post was compleatly unnesessary, and your second was the same because you didn't download and review Gazaa's song, I choose his.
I heard this song about 9 years ago, Nirvana was pretty much one of the first bands I started listening to.
This song is pretty good, I can't really review this like a song I havn't heard much, or at all so I'll just say it's a typical Nirvana song. Simple, but effective, kind of reminds me of Tourette's, if you've heard that one.
I rate it 7/10
Someone download Jaydens song to review, I shouldn't, but I decided to give him a second chance.
17 September 2004, 17:21 UTC#11
Jayden,
With greenday you can tell its them, because greendays songs are their own style, and usually don't differ much song to song, however this particular one reminded me of the theme from shrek 2, don't ask me why, haha.
Voice at beggining was annoying and shrieky, I rate this one 4/10.
2 minutes while I get the next song...

17 September 2004, 17:41 UTC#13
meh i will give it a 3/10 cus i hate manson lol 3 is for trying
17 September 2004, 17:42 UTC#14
Fuck you, you didn't even listen to it.
17 September 2004, 17:45 UTC#15
Dude that song was like 8 megabytes, and 4 minutes long, and you posted your crummy review in like 20 seconds.
20 September 2004, 15:47 UTC#16
Jayden, stop spamming my thread with your useless and nonsensical posts. If you don't have anything relevant to say, don't fucking post anything.
Anyway, to continue the thread...
QUOTE (gazaa)Okay
Marilyn Manson, Dope show
I havn't heard this song in it's entirety, because usually if I heard a Manson song, I'd turn it off.
I actually listened to it, and I must say it wasn't half bad, I liked the crazy sounds and Manson's voice seemed to fit well with the music. I didn't particularly like the chorus and the whole thing seemed to be lacking bass, but the rest of the song, especially towards the end, got my heard nodding with the beat, and in acceptance.
I'd rate it at 7.5/10
My choice is
Dream Theater - As I am.
QUOTE (dogma2[SND)http://www.cky2k.org/upload/uploads/Parabola.mp3
I always have problems with cky2k.org, so i dunno if it works.
I don't think you grasp the concept of this thread.
Don't just post songs to be downloaded, you have to review one first, does anyone ever read the start of a thread?
03 October 2004, 00:29 UTC#17
Okay, I cleaned up all of Master Jayden's shit and i'm not lost anymore.
Dream Theater - As I Am 8/10: Great song, just what I expected from Dream Theater, a unique sound.
Iron Maiden - Wasted YearsA poppier song by them, but I love it.

Awesome song.
This and The Trooper are my favourite Maiden songs, good choice.
I would write more about it, but I can't seeing as I've heard it a quarter of a billion times.
I give it 9.5/10
I'm going to choose a more obscure song, because a majority of the songs posted here I've heard many times before.
8 Stops 7 - Uninspired 05 October 2004, 07:15 UTC#19
6/10 I didn't really like that. Sounded like Seether or something you would find on a Spiderman soundtrack. I waited that the chorus would kick in hard, since there is a harder riff at the beginning of it, but it was also a little lame. Sorry for bashing a song you like
External image not preserved — inspect source: http://homegrownforums.com/html//emoticons/Copy of unsure.gif Okay so here's mine. I'm gonna be sure to post a song that no one of you has ever heard before, because it's:
-Finnish radioheavy
-Sung in Finnish
-A pack of ugly people playing
So I'm forcing you to listen a song in Finnish, so even if you don't like it all, you still might get a few good laughs
External image not preserved — inspect source: http://homegrownforums.com/html//emoticons/Copy of smile2.gif My own rating for this song is 9/10 because of the kick ass riffs
Kotiteollisuus - Minä Olen 05 October 2004, 07:31 UTC#20
i'm knocking off 2 points because it's not in english.. but if it was.. that song would kick some ass.. nice riffs and the chorus sounds badass.. 8/10
A Borrowed Life -- Blind Spot 05 October 2004, 07:43 UTC#21
Holy shit, I liked that! 9/10
Thanks for the song
Here's mine:
Anti-Flag - Operation Iraqi Liberation 06 October 2004, 13:51 UTC#22
QUOTE (benCKa @ Oct 5 2004, 05:43 PM) Holy shit, I liked that! 9/10
Thanks for the song
Here's mine:
Anti-Flag - Operation Iraqi Liberation I tried to like this song, but I couldn't. They should ditch that singer, his whiney voice just annoyed me. The music wasn't too bad I guess, but they could've done it better.
I'd probably give it about a 4/10.
I'm thinking most of you guys are hardcore metalheads, so I don't really know how this one will go.
Infected Mushroom - Frog Machine 22 October 2004, 08:53 UTC#23
*Bump*
Anyone interested in downloading this one??
If no-one likes Psy-trance then I guess I could change the song.
='(

Thanks man, much appreciated.
If you managed to listen to the song, you should leave a review to try get this thread rolling again.
If not, I'm hoping someone else will.
22 October 2004, 15:30 UTC#29
ummmm diddnt like all the crazy sound effects in it , it sounded like some starwars space battle or something.....and there were too many build ups the song 'kicked in' like 6 times but when i say kicked in , it never reallly got going that much anyway...
2/10
i cant figure out how to upload something for disturbed films to host so i will pick a song most people shoudl have already heard anyways.....
PapaRoach - Last Resort
22 October 2004, 15:47 UTC#30
i always liked that song. and their new cd is badass anyway. so i give 8/10
Thrice - The Artist In The Ambulance
