Vode, you're from Finland, right? Where did you find that fish eye on the web? Because we've been looking for a cheap one too.
EDIT: That lense is sweet!

Here:
http://www.digitarvike.fi there´s some cheap snap ons, are snap ons as crap as they say? But still, most of those are wide-angle, not fisheye.
13 September 2004, 07:03 UTC#11
I found only some semi-fisheye lenses. What's the difference between a semi fisheye and a normal fisheye, or is there a difference?
Anyway, thanks for the link
13 September 2004, 07:17 UTC#12
There´s raynox qc-303 fisheye lense x0.3, for 44e, its full fisheye and here is compare pictures for that and an semi fisheye lense

Cool, thanks. Didn't know that there was an actual finnish word for a fish eye-lense.
Come on... "Kalansilmäobjektiivi"

Yea, I about shit my pants when i first put it on my camera and saw how fisheye'd is was. It only said "wide angle" on the package, and the before/after pictures on it didn't show fisheye for shit. (I had a standard wide angle on my cam that got stolen, so i thought it would be the same.)
It was a nice surprise for only 40 bucks. It's a shame you over-sea's people can't order it. It comes with adaptors to fit almost any camera.

Mine didnt come with an adaptor...it was the last one and probably opened before i bought it, but i wanted it too much to give a fuck. It works just fine.

A fish eye lens is just a wide angle lens. They are the same thing.
The wide angle is created because of the short focal point which creates a "barrel distortion" (the sides caving in). So a wide angle lens is pretty much the opposite of zooming in. When you have a fish eye, its just a plain wide angle that makes the "barrel distortion" more distorted.
Im taking a television production class! I feel so smart!

Nah dude fisheye is way different. I can take a pic of both (wide angle and fisheye) the wide angle is much bigger and heavier.
Maybe you mean a fisheye is a wide angle but a different ammount of curve or whatever though.
15 September 2004, 23:13 UTC#24
Yea, a fisheye is just a wide angle with 10x the curvature. Not the same thing. I mean, if you take a pic with a bonified "fish eye lens" and compare it side by side to a picture taken with a "wide angle", they are very very different.

Yes exactly, its a wide angle that accents the barrel distortion
15 September 2004, 23:19 UTC#26
Ah ok then. I noticed the numbers...my fisheye is .43 and wide angle is .7
02 October 2004, 19:22 UTC#27
Wilbur, post a picture that you have taken with yours.
02 October 2004, 22:02 UTC#28
With what? My wide angle or fisheye? or...both?
02 October 2004, 22:04 UTC#29
Both, using comparisents without lenses.
02 October 2004, 22:24 UTC#30
Ok, ill post em in a day or 2.
