Upgrades?

I have a stock dell 2100 except it has 256mb of RAM and an 80 GB HD. What should I upgrade next? I was thinking about buying another 256mb or RAM because I have run out of memory a couple of times, while editing longer videos in Ulead VideoStudio.

512 can really be considered as the minimum, the processor is reasonable, so as long as you have a 7200 RPM hardrive then a memory upgrade would make it like a new pc again.

Go for as much RAM as your computer can handle. I would get at least a 300gb hard drive.

U need a pretty big hardrive for video editing, so go for it

Go for a couple of external hard drives to. They are a little more expensive but there worth it. Oh and make a partiton in your harddrive. Put all your videos in one partition and everything else on the other. That way everything stays organised and runs smoother.

Why the external?

I guess an external wouldn't be of much value to most people but im gonna buy one so I can store all of my videos on that drive and take it back and forth between my friends house, since I edit at both.

I bought 256mb of pc3200 RAM from newegg.com I ordered it last night at like 10 o clock PM and its 3 o clock PM the next day and its already in the mail. And shipping is free. That site rules. I cant wait to get it so I can edit my next slap boxing video. And Ill finally be able to use Premiere and play games. Now I need to buy a graphics card.
