You may have noticed homegrownforums down for 2 days. In the admin cp i changed the board directory to / insted of /forums with the intention of copying the files into the main public_html directory and hey presto, working forum in the main directory. However the server timed out, and I was not able to complete the operation despite trying for several hours. Eventually I asked surpass hosting if they may do this for me, so they moved the /forums to the /public_html directory not moving some vital configuration files in needed for the forum to run. Surpass then had to restore the database back to the 19th of august because thats the most recent backup they had. After they had acomplished this I got a mysql tool from invisionize forums to restore the forum which was then basically a glorified version of the default installation files. However It did everything apart from backing up the members, and only did the posts and forums, thus leaving each of the 118 accounts deleted. Thanks to jeff from www.theperfectpage.org we have our forums back. I gave him the mysql database files unpacked from the gzip file and seperating each query he cleared the logs and uploaded them, changing the config data and restoring the forum to its previous state. I wish to say a big thatnkyou to jeff, please visit his forum, and to surpasshosting for asssisting me. The forums are fully functional again.
