My name is Michael Moody and I am the director of productions for Niolan Entertainment. It was brought to my attention that several people on this board think that Niolan and myself are cons, attempting to get free footage.
I've dealt with this same kind of situation when I was directing Backyard Criminals the DVD. Most of the backyarders thought I was a scam artist trying to get free footage. Well I can assure you that Backyard Criminals has been released in stores and there was several famous pro wrestlers in the DVD such as Vampiro, New Jack, Konnan, Vic Grimes, the Sandman and Josh Matthews from Tough Enough. I've earned the respect of the backyard wrestling community and now I guess I need to earn your respect.
I would like to have all of you guys involved with the future Niolan Entertainment DVD releases and I promise you now that I won't let you down. I personally feel this is a huge opportunity to get recognition for your hard work at pulling stunts and pranks and I know that doing what you do takes creativity and courage. Some of the footage I've been sent already has been amazing.
If you have enough great footage we can produce a DVD of only your footage or we can combine the footage of several home grown crews into one DVD. The possibilities are endless and the DVDs will be really hot. We have great box designers that handle the creation of packaging and graphics and the DVDs will be sold in stores. Backyard Criminals sells in stores such as Best Buy, Sam Goody, Tower Records, Suncoast, several other stores and many online shopping outlets.
Please contact me at [email address redacted] if you want to be involved with out future DVD releases. Thanks for your time.

Have any of you actually had bad experiences with moody? I mean if not, he may be doing it for the good of the community, and also he doesnt make any money out of jackass top 100, so i was wondering, why the pessimist aproach?

Notice the ads on jackass-top 100? He must make some money...

You really can't just trust anybody that offers you a deal on the internet. My advice is before you give away anything have a lawyer read over the contract to tell you your rights.
06 July 2004, 19:23 UTC#11
Ive consulted with people who have worked with moody, i was told that he gave them the runaround and took forever to get stuff done
Also, sadly, in this world, people rarely do stuff for a community they arent involved in.
I get emails alot from him, and at first i was intrested as i am with every offer that comes my way, but after reading the contract, and discussing it over with him, i dont see myself working with him.
06 July 2004, 22:32 UTC#12
Yes, I am real. If you feel that I'm persistent it is because it is my job to get people like yourselves to send me footage. If I'm not persistent and I don't prove the legitimacy of this offer, then you would never send footage.
Also, for the record, I'm not bi.
The reason is took so long for Backyard Criminals to get released is that it took us nearly 3 years to find a good distribution deal. It was not easy but now we can release DVDs really quickly, within a couple of months. I've worked with Short Bus, ME6 and other groups and we did produce 3 seperate DVDs but some of the footage on the DVDs was slow so we are currently combining the footage of these 3 DVDs into 1 really strong DVD. Our production work, grahics, box packaging, etc is top quality and you will be impressed.
The reason I want to produce Jackass style DVDs is because I know that there are a lot of people that like this kind of entertainment and there's only so much available for them to watch. It is my job to direct and organize DVD productions and Jackass style DVDs is one of my main interests right now. Plus I know a lot of you guys have footage that we can use for DVD productions, and unless we use it, this footage might sit on your shelves forever and just grow dust.
I can offer you guys free DVDs, free t-shirts, publicity and promotion and if the DVDs do well, we will kick back money to those that decided to send footage for the DVDs. We would plug your website as well and we'll do whatever we can to increase your fan base. I would like to build a relationship with you guys and earn your trust and hopefully we can work together for several yeras with you continuing to supply us footage so that we can constantly release new DVDs with your footage.
If you don't think something is right about this or it sounds to good to be true, I suggest you give me a call at (626) 665-7571. I'm more than willing to answer any of your questions.
This is the real deal... A real opportunity and I want all of you guys involved. We can produce DVDs containing just one solo crew if you have enough footage or we can produce DVDs that contain 3 to 10 groups on one DVD.

BI stands for Boredom Induced, not bisexual. Sorry about that.
06 July 2004, 22:36 UTC#14
If you submit footage and you see your DVD sold on the shelves of major stores, I'm sure you won't feel that I induced you with boredom.
06 July 2004, 22:42 UTC#15
Do you want us to edit our parts or just give ya raw footage?
06 July 2004, 22:48 UTC#16
I prefer just being sent your raw footage. A lot of times people send me edited footage and they'll have a mainstream song from a famous band in their video and we CAN'T use that music.
If you have edited footage already, highlight clips or DVDs already produced, you can send all of that. If not, just send your raw footage.
You can send me music videos with music from famous bands edited in and what I will do is this... We will remove the music track and use your music video as a highlight reel to make a new music video with music that we own the rights to.
Email me at [email address redacted] if you want to submit footage so that I can supply you with the mailing address and the footage release form. Thanks.

06 July 2004, 22:55 UTC#17
Yeah if we got some music from local bands than it would be alright. It would be easier if we edited it ourselves so people dont see what we dont want them to see.
If we send you tapes do we lose rights to them? Like we cant use them anymore or can we use them still?
06 July 2004, 23:00 UTC#18
In the release form it mentions that you release your personal rights but the only reason we have that written is so that you don't give your footage to some other producer to use in a DVD. We don't want the footage we use, used in somebody elses DVD that they are trying to market.
You will still own your footage. You can make your own DVD and sell it to friends and nieghbors and use it on your website, just don't let some other producer use it. So the footage is still yours and you own it. The only thing we copyright is the finished edited DVD product.
If you want to edit your footage that is okay but have the bands sign the same release form that you sign. And you will need to include a note in the package that tells me that the music is from indy bands that gave you permission to use their music. But I suggest you have them sign a seperate release form representing their band.
It's best to send raw footage because we just hired a new editor that is really good. We won't include any footage of illegal acts that you might have caught on video. We have to keep the DVD decent.

I suggest everybody on this board gets involved. You guys have nothing to lose and everything to gain. How do you think CKY and the Jackass crew got famous? They got their tapes sold in little skate shops and they grew a following of loyal fans. Well we would have the DVDs in larger stores, not little skate shops. This really is a great opportunity for everybody I feel. I hope you guys take advantage of what I'm offering you. I really want to direct a lot of homegrown Jackass style DVDs but without you guys it will be impossible.

Its really hard to get DVDs sold in Wal-Mart but it's possible. Mainly we can get it into stores like Suncoast, Sam Goody, Tower Records, Blockbuster, Best Buy, Amazon.com and a lot more stores, etc...
Some DVDs like documentaries only get released in 1 or 2 stores if that but we can get Jackass style DVDs sold everywhere.
06 July 2004, 23:53 UTC#24
I will submit some of our clips, currently we are working on some really good stunts, unlike the rest of our ideas, ill keep you informed on the progress.
07 July 2004, 02:24 UTC#25
That would be bad ass, if I had any clips...
07 July 2004, 04:17 UTC#26
so moody, is this just a U.S thing or worldwide ?
because i am from australia and i may be interested when enough footage is developed
i'd have to read over the terms and conditions first if anything was to happen...
and i'm not too keen on someone else editing my footage
07 July 2004, 06:36 UTC#27
We're working on establishing distribution in other coutries. I don't handle the business end of the distribution. Our documentaries most likely will not be released outside of the USA but our pro wrestling and Jackass style DVDs will be released outside of the usa. We've realized that documentaries don't sell well at all and that everybody wants to watch "action" based productions. You can edit your footage and then send it to us. That is fine but it is best to send the footage on mini dv or 8mm.
