sonys are better by far I think the best cams to get out of your money I was stupid and setteled for a jvc because I didnt want to wait untill I got payed...cut a long story short if you want a good cam in the long run a camara will last you a good few years if you look after it right save up a little more.. in comet and dixons are pritty good also jessops but they seem more pricer than anything comet you can try out the cam before you buy it which isnt a bad deal at all the new sony cams with nightvision for recording in the dark , are crazy keeps the colour and everything no need for a light they are just a dream come true, though maybe your better off putting your 300 away and keep saven untill you can get the BEST CAM EVER!!!

I would recommend though

http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/181_240052.html

doesnt have everything.....but its just what I would pick if I didnt spend my cash on my jvc.

you can use :

http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/181.html

to pick what features you want on the cam. all this info could be useless too you but just a thought hope you find the cam you want.

I agree with drew, sony are unmatched with quality, JVC are pieces of trash, samsung cams seem reasonable though
