Gonna Buy A New Hd Cam

I am on the hunt for a new HD camera, the camera I was looking at was the Canon XH A1s but it will only record to HDV and standard def, but I want the ability to record onto flash memory as well, and that camera can't do that. so let me know what you tihnk would be my best bet or if u guys have one already that you think is a good buy please

Hey buddy, I have tried calling and txting you but you seem to be unavailable, therefore I suggest taking a look at the JVC GY-HM100U, or Panasonic's AG-HMC40, canon has nothing HD in the price range and sony has absolutely outrageous prices for anything hd capable. But come to think of it we only need a camera that records in 720p because thats the max broadcast bandwidth... not sure if that makes a difference.

I'd recommend the Panasonic HMC40 or HMC150 if you're working with a bigger budget. I'd be cautious about investing in a new HD camcorder since DSLRs are being released that produce ridiculous video. An actual camcorder may suit your needs better though.

I got this. JVC Everio GZ-HD7 cheap and nice quality.

Never thought about that Bry, a DSLR could be a good route too, their sensors are way better than an HD cameras. Same price range as well...

What are the benefits of having a DSLR?

they have better light sensors so low light video looks awesome, the regular photo lens provides a shallow depth of field for an awesome cinematic look, you can take pro quality pics at the switch of a dial. plus all the video ive seen from dslrs are in fact ridiculous as drew said.

DSLRs are geared more towards cinematic shooting. That is, well thought out shots and shooting methods. If you're looking to go HD to film stunts or spur of the moment things, a camcorder would probably suit you better. Shooting hand held with a DSLR while making adjustments can be awkward and the footage will reflect that.

yeah that's a good point and also the audio options are very limited as well so I don't think I would go with a DSLR and beside I have a picture camera that takes really good quality stills (12.1 megapixels) and shoots 720p video so I think I am going to stay on the route of an HD camcorder

True, you would have to invest in an external mic or some sort of digital audio recorder.

Ok I have been looking into them all week and trying to debate between the suggestions, and that video was really nice qaulity did u like AP Neals suggestion of the JVC gy hm100u?

That JVC does seem like a good camera, I'm just partial to Panasonic. It probably won't do too well in low light thought since it only has 1/4" CCDs.

The place I'm interning at just ordered one and I should be able to play with it sometime this week if it comes in.
