Converting

Right.

I have a MPG File that is over 1GB... what’s the best converting software to make it under 1GB so I can upload it to youtube?

I usually run it through wmm but then it loses quality, I don't want to lose any quality!

Or if anyone here is familiar with adobe premiere pro 2.0, how the fuck can you choose your file size on export??

I peaked in video editing related know-how in 2004, so my best advice would be WMM and what ever version was available of it in 2004.

The fact is: smaller filesize means losing picture quality.

I havent looked really into it, but I dont think Prem Pro exports anything else but high quality .avi... But I must be wrong, because it can e.g. burn dvd´s and it would make sense that Pro program could do lots of different things. But it would also make sense that Pro programs would not do lots of different things. In pro world everything has to be specific and they use significant programs for everything e.g converting.

So if WMM isnt good enough for you I would google for videoconverter (depending on preferences combined with word "shareware" or "torrent")

Okay, because Im such a slacker, I had two hours to do this, But I didnt realise that the article was actually twenty pages long and with the theory from the textbook I was supposed to read around 50-70pages and write something meaningfull (at least for 3 pages) In two hours. The text I produced was horrible. Oh yeah, and all this in english, which btw isnt my mother tongue.

I've never used Prem. before but when your saving your video there must be an option for what type of video you want; .wmv, .avi, etc. From there you should be able to customize the default settings, go for .wmv and try these:

Image size/resolution - 320x240
Bit rate/video quality - anywhere between 0.5mbps - 2mb, though 1mb is fine if your working with uncompressed avi's which you've captured on.
Audio - anything above 100kbps is fine, though it prolly won't matter if your uploading too youtube.

Actually, if you are uploading to youtube go for xvid/divx .avi's, .wmv's arn't too great on youtube, although there should be an option to change the settings on the mpg... In that case you wanna go for a VCD .mpeg, youtube doesn't mess with the quality of them soo much and they are decent video quality, not as small file size wise as .wmv's, but depending on the length, if it's a short video VCD's are prolly the better option.

In other words, there first should be an option to change what type of file you want (.mpg, wmv, avi, etc) then there should be an option to cusomtize whatever settings you want, stick too 320x240 resolution and you should be fine, there also should be default templates for each video type, well I'm thinking there will be...
