Okay, so I'm a little bit retarded.

I've had this DVI cable just sitting around my room for a while, so I figured I'd try hooking it up to my 360 and running it to my PC monitor. (The monitor is a Westinghouse LCM 19v5). The monitor has built-in speakers, and an audio out option for headphones.

So, I run the cable over to my monitor, and turn on the 360, and lo-and-behold, I see a glorious display of my 360's video. I am pleased.

Things are going swimmingly until I get into a game, and I realize that I have no audio whatsoever.

I realize my error was that the DVI is of course just for video, and not for audio. So the 360 is only sending over video to my monitor. The monitor is old, and fairly lame. But, it does have a DVI input, so I was pleased.

My question is, how can I get audio from my 360 to the monitor (or any other source - PC speakers, headphones, etc, if I can't get it from my monitor. I can just go straight from my 360 to something else, if necessary). What cable do I need, and where would it plug in at? Keep in mind that the only Audio input my monitor has is the lame PC Green Audio Input that is pretty much universal for all PCs. I've looked around online, and don't quite know what cable I need, or where I need to plug what.

Any suggestions?

Tom, I pretty much already have all of the ports I need on my monitor. (The DVI port) I think my problem is that my cable doesn't have the HDMI components, so I'm only getting Video. Does HDMI provide audio? If so, can I get a cable that would plug into both the DVI port on my 360 and the standard AV port of my 360, and attach to my monitor's DVI port in the same way that it is now?

Liam, what do you mean by USB? I know my 360 has a plethora of USB ports, are those able to output sound to a device that has USB connections? Like, if I got PC speakers or nice headphones that attach via USB, could I hook those up to my 360's USB and get audio that way?

Just realized that I would probably need a sound card hooked up to that USB port in order for that to work, right?

So what do or don't you have plugged in? You have those three little cables ending in pins - red, yellow and white, yeah? You can usually get a cable that has a DVI connector and an adapter for those three built into it.

Right now, I have just a straight up DVI cable that is meant for PCs plugged into the 360. Problem with the cable is that it has no audio components at all.

I think I'm just going to get a VGA adapter.

When I was using my PC screen for my 360 I put a stereo under my pc desk that had the red and white composite inputs.

I had to cut off the plastic casing around the input for the standard AV cable the 360 came with. I plugged that in, and used the Red/White wires and hooked them up to an external speaker system. I used the DVI cable to run from the HDMI port to my monitor's DVI port like before. They both wouldn't have fit though, if I hadn't cut the crap out of the cable.

I am pleased.
