MSN?

Last night all of a sudden Nicco from Arch Rivals msn thingy pops up and now I got some sort of virus at home! I haven't tried my pc since, but last night I couldn't right click and I got loadz of pop ups!

They were both around 170kb, it looked well dodgy so I declined it.

Yeah, thats what I talked about, I should have known it was a worm and not to accuse you fucking up my comp.

It was some spyware "skynet" or something.
The file was webcam.pif Google it and first link will tell how to remove it.

you should go to http://www.webroot.com/downloads/ and choose spyware sweeper.

you probz have already heard of it, but its always done the job for me and got any spyware/adware to hell. also it doesnt screw up your internet and anythin you delete can be recovered easily.

yep ts a worm they send automaticly whithout the person knowing you must delete it its fucking anoying just restart the computetr and its fine soorry scot its not my fault.

"Well, there is a msn messenger virus going around and here are some details:


Bropia worm spreads on the back of MSN Messenger

A new virus is using the MSN Messenger system to spread.
Known as Bropia.A, the worm waits on an infected system until the Messenger window is opened and then sends a copy of itself to contacts, using filenames adaware.exe, VB6.EXE, lexplore.exe and Win32.exe.

If a contact accepts the file and runs it, it checks to see if any of the previously mentioned files are present, and if not, places a file called oms.exe on the computer and runs it.

This is a variant of Rbot, which installs a backdoor on the system and gives an attacker a way of accessing and controlling the infected system remotely.

Bropia.A may also disable the right mouse button that would normally bring up context-sensitive options. It also changes the Windows mixer volume settings, giving its victims some idea as to its presence.

Antivirus companies picked up the worm on Thursday, so anyone with up to date antivirus software will be protected. Infection levels are currently low.



More details include that it is known to use the name "[email address redacted]" although it may use others.
Recommendations to keep yourself protected are "tell users you are going to add them as a contact beofore you do, get them to do likewise. When sending recieving files make sure that the person who is sending has told the person recieving that they are sending the files otherwise it could be the virus doing it without knowledge.
