burning dvd's

my friends dad live far away but he wanted to show him some of the vids we make

I have a dvd burner but whenever I put a dvdr in there it always shows some error message about not having the right disc I thought it was just pinnacle but then I tried windows movie maker and it dose the same thing what am I doing wrong please help me

(do I need a different disc or what)

Your videos need to be compressed in the mpeg 2 layer, to burn onto a DVD.

To convert files this looks like a good program:

After you have converted the files you need to use DVD burning software, for a list of trial software Click here

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have to convert them to mpeg 2. Once you've got the burn software you can write pretty much any file. External image not preserved — inspect source: http://homegrownforums.com/html/emoticons/Copy of unsure.gif

Edit using Premiere 6.5 or higher.
Export to MPEG2.
DVDit Pro, or DVDlab to create DVD files...
Burn using Nero.

Simple.
