So everyone is bugged? Thats fucked up.

Im not too techie, but from what I decifered from all the techie mumbo jumbo, that's what I was assuming...

My guess is that it is some sort of "key logger" which doesn't keep a log per se of every word written - but rather identifies keywords. E.g. "bomb" "explosives" "kiddie porn" etc.

very interesting article though. I may have to pass it around to my techie friends and see what they make of it.

The chip is a product you can buy called a keyghost, and though it is used for logging keystroke data; there is no built-in networking sending it to the department of homeland security or whatever. The only place it can send the data is through your keyboard cable to your PC; and even then it does it really inefficiently.

But its not really in any dell keyboards. You can put them in keyboards in a high security environment - but its kind of a silly idea for every day use. There is no way a government agency of any size could keep tabs on EVERY dell user's keystrokes by downloading a log file from this thing.

I'd slap my dick on my keyboard if it was true, I think that'd be the best solution.
