..and the box which shows the layers has gone.
does anyone know how to get it back, im well new to it and dont really have a clue

I'm guessing:
View>toolbars>layer box??
Or something, I don't use PS but go to view at the top, I'm sure there will be an option to bring it back up....

F7 basically does a windows>layers comand. lol
