Looking For A New Camera

I own a samsung d-362 mini dv camera, I transfer from the cam to the pc using the included usb lead and the quality becomes washed out... shall I just go out and buy a firewire (1394 lead) or alternatively just buy a new camera?

if I buy a new cam I can spend up to or around £500 - £1500 so if you have any suggestions for decent cams between those prices I'd like to hear

if I can get decent camera for the cheaper price I may be inclined to buy a few of them

Buy a firewire, it'll make a big difference, but if the quality still isn't good enough for you, I'll post some links to some good cams.
