By the way, I don't think that with Gore as president things would have gone very differently. The funny thing is that you have one party in america that is split into two parts with different names. Democrats and Republicans are quite the same, if you consider their policy, foreign and national.
Clinton as Democrat bombed together with the NATO a pharmaceuticals factory in Galenica, near Belgrade, the biggest one in Yugoslavia. People were told to wear gas masks but the civillians had no possibility to protect against the poisonous gases because they had no gas masks at all. That's no problem, we have a harmless sounding word for it, we simply call it collateral damage, problem solved. Villages and cities were bombed for 78 days in the Yugoslavian war, killing lots of elder people and children, of course.
The other factory was the only pharmaceuticals factory in Sudan, 1998. This factory produced Aspirin and was also the main Malaria drugs factory.
As a consequence over 1 million people had to die unnecessarily of Malaria and other minor diseases.
So what's the point of 3000 dead Americans? The point is that they weren't killed abroad but in their own country by people who learned flying the planes in America.
Now Americans got a taste of what Europeans and Israelis live with for a long time. We know the Basques, the IRA (Funded mainly by Irish Americans, by the way), the RAF (70's to 90's in Germany, with about 20 terroristic attacks, assasinations and abductions, this was the cause for the GSG9 to be formed, some of you may have heard of them), etc.
If Geroge bush believes that war will bring peace (prosperity only to the big American military firms) to the world, he might have misinterpreted the sentence "War is peace." in Orwell's 1984.
