I posted this thread on the CKYForums, and am actually trying to make this contest recognized by the entire community. Let me know what you think....

Homegrown Showdown 2004

Setup
16 Homegrown squads compete for the title. If more than 16 teams apply, a vote would be taken to choose the particpants.

- After 16 squads are chosen, all the groups will be thrown into a hat and draw a number from 1-16. That will be their number throughout the competition.

Round One
A single-elimination round, consisting of one-on-one group matches.

1 vs. 16
2 vs. 15
3 vs. 14
4 vs. 13
5 vs. 12
6 vs. 11
7 vs. 10
8 vs. 9

Each group will compete in a "Best-of-Three" competition to advance to the next round. Once the competition starts, three "skit/stunt" ideas will be created, and each group will(hopefully) complete all three.

Upon completion of the first round, 8 teams will move on along with 4 "wildcard" teams(chosen by best performance of non-qualifying squads).

Approx. Time: 3 weeks

Round 2
With 12 teams, we will break into four 3-team heats, containing two qualifying groups from round one and one wildcard.

This round will consist of one event, with the winners moving on to the semi-finals and the losers left to watch from the sidelines.

At this point, I am not sure what kind of event would be needed for this round, but it would have to be a good level up from the previous round.

Approx. Time: 3 weeks

Round 3

Throughout the contest, we will have the teams bracketed into two sides(much like any "tournament" style event). This will be the final event for each bracket, consisting of 2 one-on-one showdown between the winners of the 3-team contests.

I figure this would take a good deal of time to plan, so I still don't know what the criteria for this round would be, but there'd have to be several factors that came into play to up the ante a bit.

Winners move on to the finals.

Approx. Time: 2 weeks

Round 4 - The Finals

By now, hopefully the contest has run smoothly and the two remaining teams have garnered the respect of the community and the attention of the entire world(or maybe not)...

Much like the NBA Finals, this would come down to a "Best-of-Seven" series with one task at a time being filmed, edited, and voted on. It would go down to the first team with four wins, and since they had worked so hard to make it this far, there could be some extention in the amount of time the round lasts.

Approx. Time: 2-4 weeks

Sounds fantastic, we'll put it on the portal and add it as an official contest, the problem at the moment is we are a bit short on members, so any new signups you could generate would be fantastic. Cheers man.
