Gotta make a choice. Help

So, I can buy a Sony TRV14e for 125 bucks. But it will cost me another 25 bucks to pick it up so 150.
- Had a heavy fisheye on it so the lens is a little lose, still ok tho.
- Can act like a fucker when it's cold outside (-whatever degrees)
- Extra 2500mAh battery.

Or a Sony HC40 for 200 bucks:
- REC button on the right side is broken, can only use the one on the lcd screen
- Extra battery

Which should I buy?

2 guys from my group already have a HC40 and its ok cause it's 1 megapixel, but I dunno if the quality from a TRV14 is better.

Help me out quickly please.

I'd pick the TRV14e... It sounds like it'd be better....

2nd one looks better, but if the rec button dont work then fuck it, as what happens if somthing happens and you need to film it quick, you cant piss around with the touch screen..

Hmm. Would cost me only 2 seconds extra.. and I'm a LCD-screen slut anyway so I guess it wont be a big probleem.. I think the TRV14e is 0,8megapixels and the HC40 is 1,1megapixels, would this make a big difference in quality?

I dont know if I cloud use a cam with a broken record button... id go with the TRV14

Hmm yeah looks like im going for the TRV14 after all.. why? I just read tons of people complaining about the HC40, not the cams quality but almost everyone seems to have problems with the battery after 1,5 years. When they try to charge it stops after 20 min, and when the battery is "full" its empty again after an hour or so if they let it in their cam. This sucks and repairing costs 125 bucks so Im not waiting for that.

kuffi you should just keep saving. Both of those cams look a bit crappy in my opinion.

I own both, 2004-mid 05 retardz stuff was shot with the top one

late 05-06 stuff shot with the bottom

I like the top one better as it abit heavier and the weight is balenced. plus I think the quality is better also....my new cam dont feel the same in quality wise its also half the size of the other

plus the record button isnt in the lcd screen, its right next to it. its eazier to press IMO.

So you're saying the HC40 quality is actually less good than the TRV14? You could be right because I've always liked the TRV cams (the quality) compared to for example HC14 but I thought HC40 was a lot better but I guess thats wrong?



Nah. First of all I can't "save" money. I can save like 250 in a few months so that sucks. Second of all, Im probably going to move to another city in 7 months and then filming will probably stop for me. So it's pretty useless to try and get a big ass cam. Something like this will do the trick to finish my DVD.

So yeah, footage from the DVD will be filmed with different cams, cams we used:
- Samsung VPD80
- Sony TRV250
- Sony TRV30e (2nd best)
- Sony VX2100 (the best)
- Sony HC19
- Sony HC40
and the Sony TRV14 if I'm going to buy it.

I used to have the second one, the footage looks noticeably better than all my friends 1 chip cameras, and it really isn't hard to get to that other rec. button. I don't know anything about the other cam, so maybe listen to marc

I dont care about the record button but if Im going to have to fix the battery problem it will cost me 125 bucks, dont want that. Im picking my cam up next friday.
